A long long time ago, I can still remember my very first Bozo. And now we are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Energy Bozo Co-Ed Softball Tourney.
What’s a Bozo Tourney? See photos below and read on…
In a land far away a bunch of energy conversationist were sitting around a table having a heated discussion about NW energy conservation when one person stood up and suggested moving the meeting to a softball field to settle the discussion. As it turned out, they spent the weekend clowning around the softball field and socializing to resolve their differences. Who was in charge, the need for King and Queen was needed to oversee Bozo Land and the Energy Bozo Softball Tourney. All these years later, these Bozo’s could be found attending the annual gathering with friends and family all over the state of Washington, rumor has it they also gathered in Oregon in 1997, and left the country and trekked north to the land of Canada in 1996. Bozo Land includes such places as Leavenworth, Orting, Concrete, Orcas Island, Tenino, White Rock and Brush Prairie to name a few.
Rumor also has it that one person was arrested Port Townsend, brought to the field in handcuffs by local police, another Bozo is not allowed to return to one venue for peeing in public, a midnight Bozo firework display got the attention of local police and again, local police had to shut down a Bozo party in Roslyn and a mechanical bull beheaded by this years King Joe after table dancing. But through it all, the games went on and will continue for this midsummer classic. So join us for a fun weekend filled with softball, bbq, camping, beverages (keg stands), slip & slide and music. All are welcome, kids can play and some of the adults will try to play….
